Family fitness centre for Five Acres Leisure Centre
ZigZag interactive fitness solutions and Pavigym flooring have teamed together to kit out a unique gym at the Five Acres Leisure Centre in the Forest of Dean, which has been specially designed so that children and their parents can work out together. ZigZag has installed eight of its Xer-Dance second generation dance platforms, where players move their feet to the latest chart songs following step routines on a massive plasma screen, complete with mood lighting and a state of the art sound system. The family fitness centre also boasts an Exer-Station Pro machine, which looks and works like an Xbox console, but uses body movements to control the game instead of thumbs, and a boxing ring complete with punch bags and ZigZag’s Makoto target arena, where players compete against the computer to knock out lights on the arena’s three six-foot steel towers. ZigZag has also installed Hoist’s new circuit of Roc-It resistance machines. But the gym flooring is pretty unique too. Pavigym has colour coded the floor to section off and highlight areas designated for different activities and has also created a 10m sprint track. Pavigym, which is made from the same material as sports training shoe soles, helps the foot's natural movement and reduces overall fatigue and muscle stress, as well as being hypo-allergenic. Jonathan Bowdler, operations supervisor at the centre in Coleford, Forest of Dean said: “Adults love the interactive equipment as much as the children and the red and bamboo colour floor tiles add a fun element to the room, as well as protecting our members’ bones and joints. We are delighted to open this new family fitness centre and extend our high level fitness provision so that children and their parents can work out together.”
