An introduction to Children's Physical Activity
This 1-day course will provide fitness and activity instructors with ideas to encourage children between 5 - 11 years to be more active. This will be achieved through physical sessions that cover a variety of games to provide new ideas.
Theoretical session taking into account the physiological and anatomical considerations of children's exercise will be completed. The final session will concentrate on planning and programming children's activities.
On completion of this course attendees will have the necessary knowledge, skills and confidence to implement and run a variety of Children's activity sessions that are both effective and fun.
An introduction to Children's Activities in a Non Physical Environment
This 1-day course will look at the qualities of successful children's coaches and cover, through practical and theoretical sessions, the theaming and structuring of fun classes from craft to science. The course content is aimed at children from 5-11 years.
An introduction to Children's Holiday Activities and Programmes
This 2-day course incorporates the above two courses aimed at children aged 5-11. It will provide staff with the knowledge on how to create, plan and use games and ideas to build exciting children's activities and holiday camp programmes.
Teenology - An introduction to Teenagers' Physical Activity
This 2-day course will provide fitness instructors and children's activity staff with the skills and knowledge to plan and deliver activities to teenagers (12+). Through theoretical sessions, workshops and practical application the course will enable attendees to gain ideas and knowledge to build a successful teenage to gain ideas and knowledge to build a successful teenage programme including enjoyable activity programming, regular reviews and updates and one-on-one consultations. Attendees will be confident in delivering the programme and promoting it through enthusiastic, proactive initiatives.
How to Make a Children's Programme Successful
This 1-day course will highlight and explain the six sections involved in managing a children's programme. It will help to identify current issues you may experience and raise awareness of available solutions. Areas covered include programming, staffing and recruitment, analysis and review, the environment and marketing. This course is suitable for general managers and children's activity co-ordinators.
Standard Operating Procedures when Working with Children
This course focuses on the health and safety aspect of children and families in a leisure environment. The SOP course looks at the Governing Body (Ofsted) requirements that facilities are required to meet and highlights the risks that must be reduced on an on-going basis. Course structure will cover a lost child, behavioral issues, fire, accidents and incidents, child protection and meeting the Governing Body requirements on an ongoing basis. This course is essential for facilities without operational procedures in place.
CYQ Level 2 - Instructing Health Related Fitness for Children
This 2-day course provides delegates with the key skills to competently deliver a safe, effective and fun physical activity programme for children between the ages of 5-16 years. The course comprises of practical and theory sessions, with a teaching session and written paper completed during two days by all candidates. Following the course a portfolio of evidence will be submitted in the form of a video, programming plan and case studies. Once the course and assessment is completed the candidate will gain a CYQ qualification.
